Margaret's Vegetable Chowder

Vegetable Chowder - Margaret L.

 
  • 3 slices bacon
  • 1 c diced celery
  • 1 c chopped onion
  • 1 lb. can tomatoes or fresh
  • 2 c diced potatoes
  • 1 c diced carrots
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  •  1/4 tsp. dried thyme,crushed
 
Partially cook bacon.  Add celery and onion.  Partially cook potatoes and carrots.  Make a sauce of 4 c milk, 6 tbsp flour and 4 tbsp butter.  Put all ingredients into sauce and simmer 1 hour
